Stuff Portrait Friday: Friday December 1st

It’s DECEMBER ALREADY. How did that happen? In 32 days we’ll be in 2007. There are only 24 shopping days until Christmas. Are you finished shopping? Did you start? OK. Enough of that.

It’s not yet 10 p.m. and I am about to hit the sack so I can get up at 5:15 for the last day of bootcamp (this week). But not until I post my SPF pictures. I have priorities, you know!

The assignment was this:
1. Something that makes you go “hmmm.”
2. Something sweet
3. Something retro

Hmmm…I thought about posting a photo of something that makes me go “hmmm,” but I decided to shoot something that would make you go “hmmm.” I saw the spark of light this created and had to take a photo. Do you know what this is?
Hmmm...

Sweet! Oh yes, this was sweet. It’s my dessert from dinner tonight. I consider it research because it is from the restaurant that will cater our reception, so I had to eat it. It’s a caramel brownie s’more and it has tiny little Golden Grahams sprinkled all over the vanilla ice cream on top of the rich chocolate brownie. Chocolate and caramel sauces are strategically drizzled throughout, and a slab of scorched marshmallow is propped up next to it. I’ll have to run really fast and far tomorrow to make up for this one.

This is my retro record collection. Several of these albums are also in digital form on my iPod. I don’t know why I keep these vinyl versions because I no longer have a record player, but I just can’t bear to part with them. I have other albums in my closet that are too embarrassing to photograph and post, like that one by my childhood favorites, the brother and sister duo from Utah.
Retro

Did you play? If not, you must confess in the comments my telling me your most embarrassing album/CD/cassette tape in your collection.

Small town charm

While visiting my parents, Matte, my sister, and I hopped in the car to visit a little store in Isleton (population 840), a few miles away. I had seen this store on a previous drive-by, but didn’t have my camera with me then. This time, I was prepared, for the sole purpose of our visit was to capture the store sign in digital form.

As you can see, Bob is a master of sorts. He also proudly boasts having a firm worm. But of course.

The master

Neither Matte nor I had any idea that Isleton would offer so many interesting photo opportunities (see my Flickr set here). The people of Isleton (are they called Isletonites? Isletonians?) provided an entertaining soundtrack as we took photos of several deserted buildings. While standing outside the police station, we overheard a loud conversation down the street. A guy was working on his pick-up truck in his front yard with a buddy of his. His wife was walking back into the house and he yelled after her, “Hey, bitch! Bring me a beer, wouldja?” To which she replied “Ah, blow me! Go @#$% yourself!”

I’m sure we’ll visit Isleton again, perhaps in February for the SPAM contest, or in June for the Crawdad Festival. It’s world famous, you know.

Glassholders

This photo does not condone drinking and driving. However, it does condone taking goofy photos while tipsy from your engagement photo shoot at a winery.

Stuff Portrait Friday

Kristine gave us a break again this week.

The simple assignment is:
1. YES
2. NO
3. MAYBE

Yes:
Yes, I used to love Pinocchio. He was my favorite Disney character from the first time I saw the movie, and made my mom sit through it a second time. When I was little, Pinoke was even my invisible friend. So I paid homage to him on the vanity plate of my old car (a 1989 Mazda 323).
Pinocchio

No:
No, I have never seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show. But Matte has, and this is his old plate. The other day when Rocky Horror was on TV, Matte was doing the whole routine. And I didn’t get it. In fact, it kind of scared me a little bit.
Rocky Horror

Maybe:
Maybe I’ll have some ice cream when I’m done posting. But vanilla is like a blank canvas, it begs for some color and flavor. So maybe I will add some chocolate chips. And maybe some whipped cream. And maybe some warm caramel sauce. OK, and maybe fudge too.
Ice cream

Did you play this week? Yes? No? Maybe? If you did, I’ll share my ice cream with you.

TGIF, peeps!

Stuff Portrait Friday: Super damn easy

Thank you, Kristine, for making this week’s assignment so easy.

1. The Good
2. The Bad
3. The Ugly

In honor of Halloween this week, I decided to showcase some of Matte’s action figures.

The Good. Guess who? I think he’s the least evil of the collection. And the hottest, if you ask me.
The Good

The Bad. This dude is the ultimate bad guy in Diablo, according to Matte. I’m constantly learning new things from my fiance.
The Bad

The Ugly. The ugly is also bad. He’s Baan, the ultimate bad guy in Diablo II. Look at the large size version  of him on my Flickr page. Baan has blue veins and weird zits all over himself. He creeps me out.
The Ugly

Bet I out uglied ya, didn’t I? I apologize for any nightmares I may have caused. Didja play? Didja?
