Random Tuesday Ramblings

In the continuing cat saga, I am ecstatic to report that Daphne ate food yesterday. She also ate one of my toe separators (I’m pretty sure anyway), which the vet was hoping she’d puke up, but didn’t. I’m seriously hoping it won’t have an ill effect on her. Anyway, last night when I got home from my first day back at work in 2 weeks, Matte and I witnessed Daphne scarfing her new food like she hadn’t eaten in days. Oh yeah, she hadn’t. Her nostrils had finally cleared up enough so she could smell the bits in the bowl. We were so happy, tears fell from our eye holes. Honest. That’s how worried we were that our little boo had gone the way of Nicole Richie. Perhaps we have an extreme love for our feline family, but we don’t care. We hiss and spit at your mocking, so there!

I was catching up on my blogs the other day, and saw a post from Mad Kitten who has been wedding dress shopping of late. Congrats, and YAY to MadMeer! Much to my dismay, I learned that bridal gowns come as small as size zero, but that those size zeroes are actually smaller than size zero, more like size minus-three. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t a woman’s wedding day the one day in her life when she should feel her most beautiful? So then why, why, WHY do they make wedding dresses 2 to 3 sizes smaller than regular clothes? C’mon people! Brides spend piles of money to look beautiful on that one day and we (heh…’we’) are forced to buy a size (number) or three larger than what we usually wear? Should it not be the other way around? Size 10s should be a 4 that day, or least a 6. I need to eat nothing but lettuce for 2 months before I even start looking.

I’m getting my feet worked on tomorrow. The podiatrist is going to repair my two big toes so I will not have to suffer from ingrown toenails ever again. Both big toes. Double-whammy. It’s going to hurt and I’m going to be a giant pansy about it too. Thinking about it too much makes me want to hurl.

I’m catching up on a week of Days of Our Lives that I missed while I was in Calgary last week. (Thank you, SoapNet and Comcast DVR!) I’m sure it will be well worth the time I am investing. Because how many times a week can Belle almost lose her baby, her second child by Shawn, both of which were accidents? Apparently not often enough for me.

The A’s lost tonight. This needs to not happen again. Mmmmkay?

When I think about our vacation to Disney World and our engagement in front of Cinderella’s castle, it makes me so happy, I could cry. And then I think of how we let Matte’s family know at dinner that night, and I want to cry more, because of how happy I am about my new family.

Today I said the word out more like ooat. That trip to Canada brought my roots to the surface, eh?

I’m sure I have more to say, but I need to focus my attention on the trials and tribulations of certain Salemites right now. That, and I need to go eat some lettuce. Romaine tonight, I think.

Oooh, hope your toesies don’t hurt too much! It’ll be worth it in the end, ya know.

And glad about kitty-boo, and that you are happy.

  • wi says:

loved your ramblings. glad daphne is getting better. she and jasper are now going to be part of the family. and speaking of which, i love telling the story of your engagement night dinner. brings tears to my eyes as well. we love our newest family member!
and, when, oh when will belle and shaun find happiness?

  • Moose says:

Toe separators = much better than kitty turds.

When my dog deigns to eat, that is.

(Have you tried bacon grease? Works wonders on increasing furry appetites.)

  • Jenni says:

YAY! I’m glad to hear Daph’s gotten her appetite back! However, I’m not so happy that the appetite includes a fondness for toe separators.

And yes, the wedding dress thing is totally ridiculous. When I got married, I wore a size 6, but my dress was a size 10!!! And, it didn’t need any alterations. You can bet I wasn’t feeling too good about myself the day I tried dresses on….

  • Saj says:

Yea Daphne! I know my appetite kind of sucks when I can’t smell anything!
I was in a wedding when I was 14 and wearing a size 4 (I think) and they ordered a size 10 for me! I think I have selectively forgotten what size I needed for my wedding dress!
And we are so excited to have you as our family member! I always knew Matte had it in him!

  • Carmi says:

I’m so glad your gato is on the mend. She’s such a sweet little thing…you just know that she appreciates everything you’ve done for her.

    Happy sigh.
